Almost all of us have either used or know someone who has used Canola oil for cooking.
My advice is to toss it in the garbage immediately and don’t look back. Forget about the past and how long you have been using Canola Oil and go out and purchase some organic olive oil and organic coconut oil.
That one tip alone can greatly improve your and your family’s health.
Now if you want more info on exactly why good old “heart healthy” (Ha!) Canola oil is horrific for you and your family…
Canola, which is derived from the words “Canada” and “oil” is derived from the rapeseed. The rapeseed is a member of the mustard family which is unfit for human consumption and has been used as a common pesticide.
Polyunsaturated fat is a prime source of inflammation which may lead to cancer and other diseases, free radicals and omega-6 fatty acids which can slow the metabolism.
Canola oil contains a distorted ratio of fats (16 to 1). The omega 6s and omega 9s outweigh the omega 3s.
Canola oil’s rapeseed develops a terrible smell which requires a deodorizing process from the manufacturer.
Sally Fallon, author of Nourishing Traditions, notes that the omega–3 fatty acids of processed canola oil are transformed during the deodorizing process into trans–fatty acids. She relates that one study indicated that “heart healthy” canola oil actually created a deficiency of vitamin E, which is essential to our cardiovascular health.
Canola oil contains erucic acid, which has been linked to heart lesions.
According to All-organic-food.com’s Canola Oil Report, since the year 1995, biotech giant Monsanto has manufactured rapeseeds that are genetically engineered to be resistant to the herbicide RoundUp.
Today, about 90% of the world’s canola crop is genetically modified. So we can add GMOs to the list of awful traits of canola oil.As with most of my posts, my goal is to inform my readers and clients, not to scare you. The most important thing is not to worry about the past use of a potentially harmful product, but rather find alternatives you can use to replace them.
This is what we do at JDS Hometraining & Holistic Nutrition. We give you healthy alternatives to potentially harmful products which build your health.
Good luck! Best health!
