With the hot topic of LeBron James’ dehydration and cramps at the forefront of today’s social media news, I think this is a good time to discuss and inform readers about the toxic nature of Gatorade and the terrific benefits of Coconut water.
I heard several times during the NBA finals game, commentators say “get him a Gatorade”.
It fascinates me that so many Americans are still drinking Gatorade. It further baffles me how so many professional athletes consume this garbage.
The human body runs on small electrical impulses. When the body needs maximum performance, electrolytes carry these electrical impulses from cell to cell. When you get dehydrated you lose electrolytes and also lose normal function in the body.
The best and most pure way to supply your body with these essential electrolytes is Coconut water.
The last things I want to put in my body when I need electrolytes are:
high fructose corn syrup – A modified sugar implicated in this country’s diabetes epidemic.
bromine brominated vegetable oil – This is used to create led dissolving additives for gasoline and photograph paper…YUM! Studies show it builds up in the body and is linked to memory loss and skin conditions.
Add in some artificial colors and flavors and you have a toxic bottle of garbage, which has more than twice as much sodium than potassium. This makes Gatorade and other sugar filled “sports drinks” poor sources for electrolyte delivery and a great source for weight gain and metabolism destruction.
Coconut water has over 400 mg of potassium per 8 oz. Gatorade has about 30 mg.
In conclusion, when you are trying to replenish your or your child’s electrolytes, reach for a high quality coconut water and forget about the Pepsi owned sugar and salt water/ toxic waste called Gatorade.
